I don't need a Wedding Planner, my venue has a Co-ordinator included!
Updated: Jul 17, 2019
As a wedding planner I hear this a lot. So let me start by addressing the elephant in the room... Venue Co-ordinators are not Wedding Planners! There, I said it, blunt but true.
Don't get me wrong, venue co-ordinators do a fantastic job, but it is very different to what a dedicated wedding planner does.
Please rest assured I am speaking from experience, I have been a venue co-ordinator at 5 different properties over an 8 year period. During this time I can honestly say that I was very rarely at a wedding I had organised. By time the big day had come around I was working on weddings over 2 months away. I had handed it over to the operations team and it was now their job to deliver.
This is the key difference between a Venue Co-ordnator and a Wedding Planner. A Venue Co-ordinator is there for the venue, their job is to sell weddings, be the administrator for the planning part and then hand over to the delivery team.
A wedding planner is with a couple from start until finish, they are there when the couple wakes up on the morning and do not leave until party has finished. They are purely there for the Bride and Groom. They know the schedule by memory and liaising with all involved to make sure that it is adhered to. They make dreams a reality!
Wedding Planning is a bespoke service, tailored to each individual couple, person centered. There is no one size fits all.
Ultimately being a professional wedding planner is a skill, a vocation and a lifestyle choice... not just a job!
