Is there such a thing as being too honest...?
Updated: Jul 17, 2019
Today I met with a beautiful wedding venue and they asked how the business launch was going. I proceeded to tell them about website tweaks I have to make as on some screens my peoples heads are chopped off in photo's, and how I wish I had taken pictures of the hundreds of weddings I had organised as a venue coordinator. My guide looked slightly puzzled but laughed with me.
It got me thinking on the drive away, is there such a thing as being too honest? Did i give too much detail? Should I have fluffed my way through and said that everything is fabulous...?
I personally don't think you can ever be too honest, especially in my role as a wedding planner.
When someone books me as a wedding planner, they are booking me, only me and my experience. I can't hide behind beautiful flowers or scrumptious cakes, I am the product. I am a walking testament of people buying people.
So I believe in being totally honest from the beginning. A couple will either like me or not, book me or find someone who suits them better.
We live in a world of variety and consumers have never had so much choice. So by being honest from the first conversation, we are giving our clients the right information for them to make the best decision for them.
After all, they are organising one of the best days of their lives!
